McMUR ry ’s move to NCaa division ii While there are many challenges to address and questions to answer, the transition enables McMurry to help students balance the classroom and the field. The December 17 announcement by the Board of Trustees that McMurry would begin the process of a transition to the second division of the NCAA likely stirred a plethora of emotions among current students, alumni, faculty, staff and the Abilene community. the move meant a return to athletic scholarships, and it sparked the memory of the “golden days” of athletics with McMurry’s membership in the Texas Intercollegiate Athletic Association and the NCAA’s Lone Star Conference.
