41-DAY SPAN, THREE LOCALS RECORD RARE DOUBLE EAGLE (ALBATROSS)
From Sept. 12 to Oct. 23 of 2022, locals in Louisiana and Mississippi managed to register three double eagles (also called an albatross), which is one of the rarest shots in golf!
Joe Joe Jones got things started with two shots to complete the par-5 fourth at Greenville (Miss.) Municipal Golf Course. Jones’ feat was witnessed by Derrick Cotton and his daughter. Then on Oct. 16, Scott Snyder recorded his double eagle on the 17th at The University Club in Baton Rouge, La. Snyder’s second shot on the par-5 was from 205 yards out and witnessed by Phil Slicker, David Breidenbach and Parry Snyder. The final albatross for 2022 was made by Blake Baldwin, who is an Assistant Professional at Reunion Golf and Country Club in Madison, Miss.

Baldwin accomplished the feat on the ninth hole while competing in the Battle Over 463 at his place of employment. After a 301-yard drive, Baldwin used a 5-iron from 225 yards to finish the par-5 hole in two strokes.
