Join us in the studio and at the South Park outdoor stage as we explore E. B. White’s tender tale of the wise spider Charlotte and her quest to save Wilbur the pig. In this magical barnyard adventure, participants will weave together dances, costumes, and sets that celebrate the extraordinary friendships and acts of bravery on Zuckerman’s farm.

Contemporary Dance Film

Directed and Choreographed by Tristian Griffin

Calling intermediate to advanced dancers (equivalent to Arts Center Ballet V-VII/ Modern II) in grades 6-12 to be part of an original contemporary dance film directed and choreographed by Tristian Griffin. This film will highlight the beauty and power of our community as it regains connections that were once lost.

Film will be approximately five to 10 minutes. Virtual and in-studio rehearsals will be held on Wednesdays from 1-4pm, June 9-30. Filming will occur outdoors June 21-30 in the evenings between 4-9pm. Casting is limited, audition required.

Community Dance Film

Directed by Ric Averill Choreographed by Eleanor Goudie-Averill

Inspired by the “Harlem Shake,” a dance that was created by Harlem dancer Al. B. in the early 1980s awhen it became a global phenomenon celebrating its wild energy and enthusiasm. This film seeks to assemble a collection of Lawrence movers of all-ages. Participants will be part of the creative process and require no prior dance experience. This will be an Averill-Arts Center experience you won’t want to miss!

Rehearsals will be held via ZOOM in July. On-site rehearsals and filming will occur August 2-6. Film length will be approximately three to five minutes. Deadline to enroll is June 20. Participation fee covers the entire household. Households with more than one participant are required to enroll additional members by contacting the front desk.
