WOMAN

WOMEN AND LEADERSHIP Eliseo Aquino

Women are capable of doing great things, especially if they have God’s help. However, the fear of taking a leap of faith prevents some from reaching their full potential. The concept of leadership as a male preserve has raised serious questions. No one seems to

realize that the best male leaders have been formed by women who have worked hard to give society better human beings. Women can be leaders in whatever position they are in. The Bible speaks about many of them and describes their contributions to the society of their time. Three women mentioned in the Old Testament stand out for their influence on God’s people. DEBORAH

At a time where men had lost the desire to fight, a family woman stepped up to save her people with God’s help. Pastor Samuel Mejía, in his message “Deborah, an Example to Follow,” mentions that God has no problem in using a woman as leader. The biblical story of Deborah is a confirmation. If men do not live up to the circumstances, then there will be women who will face any adversity that may arise. “Deborah was such a strong and great leader that the general thought that if she was not to battle with him, he would have not been able to defeat the enemy. Barak did not lack courage; if so, he would have not become general. But there was something in Deborah that was above all men of war. God has no gender favoritism. Deborah was a proven leader and the general knew that her leadership was bigger than his own,” said Pastor Samuel. ABIGAIL

In his message “Women Worthy of Emulation,” Pastor Humberto Henao mentions the qualities of Abigail, a knowledgeable and wise woman that persuaded David and his men and not to do something that they would regret later. MISSIONARY MOVEMENT 22 WORLDWIDE Americas • Europe • Oceania • Africa • Asia

Women can be leaders in whatever position they are in. The Bible speaks about many of them and describes their contributions to the society of their time. The Bible tells that when David’s men came to Nabal to ask for food, Nabal treated them badly and refused to give them anything. Seeing this situation, the servants went to Abigail so that she could prevent a tragedy. “David was angry and he and his four hundred men were willing to destroy everything. However, Abigail faced the men and with convincing arguments made them come to their senses. David was in the front, soldiers were around him with swords, the servants were expectant, and in the middle of them all was a woman handling the situation,”
