Every last Saturday of September, the Worldwide Missionary Movement holds a general fasting to pray for the missionaries around the world and to motivate more believers to join the missionary calling.
Reverend José Arturo Soto, international president of the WMM, will share a message to all the churches the day before the main service. He will highlight the importance of the missionary work and announce the official motto for World Mission Day 2019. The announcement will be broadcast by Bethel TV and the social networks of the churches.
Every year, this important event gathers thousands of congregations around one purpose: to pray for the missionary fields and for the missionaries who spread the Gospel in the most dangerous and faraway places of the world. Prayers are also aimed to motivate potential missionaries to join the cause entrusted by God: “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature” (Mark 16:15).
Likewise, a special contribution is collected to acquire new lands, to build new temples, to found new children’s homes, to open schools, and to cover the expenses of the missions worldwide.
The WMM has been mission-oriented since the beginning, as stated by Reverend Luis M. Ortiz in a poem: You go, sower, your seed in good soil will sprout. In joy you will present your sheaves, and the divine Farmer will reward!
The Bible states in Matthew 9:38: “Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.” The WMM has obeyed this biblical order since its foundation. The Work is currently established in 73 countries, being Abu Dhabi, Uganda, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Martinique, and New Zealand the last ones to which missionaries were sent.
In last year’s message, Reverend José Arturo Soto spoke about the missionary character of our Movement. “We have been focused on missionary work over the last 60 years,” he mentioned. “Missionary work is inherent to our Movement. Let’s keep spreading the missions all over the world,” he added.
