WOVEN HILL

Weaving Human, Nature and Blue into Marina South

This project sought to establish a seamless connection among humanity, nature, and water, while also addressing the imminent challenge of rising sea levels. The park is designed to create an environment that allows visitors to feel fully immersed in their surroundings and actively participate in the experience through diverse planting palettes and zones.

Project Concept

Verdant Flow reimagines the hospital‘s hard built environment by seamlessly integrating soft landscapes inspired by the fluidity of a river. Meandering pathways mimic the natural flow of water, guiding users through zones of reflection, interaction, and respite. The design employs biophilic principles, particularly Attention Restoration Theory, to enhance the restorative qualities of the space by incorporating elements of „soft fascination,“ such as flowing water, swaying grasses, and dappled light. These natural cues offer moments of tranquility and cognitive relief, fostering a sense of calm and rejuvenation for hospital users

DESIGN LANGUAGE

Cascading Meadow

Reimaging the hospital entrance as a terraced landscape of soft greenery designed to provide immediate visual relief and comfort to visitors. Inspired by the natural flow of meadows, the cascading layers integrate intentional seating to accommodate user behavior observed in unconventional resting spaces, creating a welcoming and restorative environment.

Gathering Glade Lavender Walk

This zone is designed to immerse users in a flowing, soft landscape that promotes mindfulness through meandering pathways and a sense of gentle movement. The landscaping encourages exploration while seamlessly incorporating seating areas, inviting users to pause, reflect, and engage with the calming environment.

A therapeutic pathway lined with aromatic, purple-colored plants, such as lavender, designed to envelop users in a calming ambiance that soothes the senses and promotes relaxation.

Whispering Willows

A serene reflection zone designed to inspire introspection, featuring weeping willows and a tranquil reflecting pool. Soft-colored, flower-like structures gently diffuse light, captivating users while inviting a sense of presence. During rain, the interplay of raindrops on the pool and the shelters enriches the meditative atmosphere, fostering a deep connection with the environment

Water’s Confluence

Rochor canal have been an important part of its surrounding neighbourhood for y ears. Recent works on the canal have improved the conditions of the canal but at the cost of the connections it has with the neighbourhood.

T his design proposal hope to bring water element in as a reflection of rochor canal and social space while enhancing the area as well

Use curved roads and bright coloured plants so users will slow down when cycling through this pathway to avoid accident s

More female than male lives within Depot Road and the population is made up of 51% of residents aged 40 and above.

The views from the car park are something not to miss. Viewers get to see the bird’s eye view of Depot Road landscape (1 & 2) and also oversee the Telok Blangah Hill Park (3 & 4)

The design concept comes from the multiplication of squares, converting the space into an area that brings the community together.

Section

The project aims to create a vibrant and dynamic public space that seamlessly connects the Singapore Art Museum and SMU Connexion, fostering a sense of movement and exploration. Taking inspiration from the underside of a mushroom, the design incorporates its organic and fluid shape to mimic the flow of a river.

This unique concept allows visitors to navigate freely, breaking away from the constraints of traditional linear paths. By embracing this fluidity, the project encourages people to engage with the space in unexpected ways, promoting creativity, connectivity, and a sense of liberation.
