Animals GAME

Mahimba is a Cape buffalo hunter’s paradise with this being the primary quarry on most visitor’s wish-lists. Hunted on foot in the traditional manner, clients will have ample opportunity to find the bull of their dreams, either in the open palm-studded savannas or in the dense thickets that are sure to cause even the most intrepid hunter to experience an adrenalin rush.

The endemic Roosevelt’s Sable, long-horned Common waterbuck, and Common reedbuck are all found at Mahimba in abundance. Mahimba is especially known for plentiful bushpigs—often taken during the day—exceptional warthogs, and monster Chobe bushbuck.

Crocodile and hippo are hunted by boat while traversing the Macarau River. This tidal river is home to hundreds of crocodiles which come out to bask during low tide. Elephant make Mahimba their home with one trophy bull offered on quota per year.

Hunters wanting to collect nyala and some of the “tiny ten” species—none of which are found at Mahimba—can combine their standard safari with time spent at our nearby concession for Red duiker, Livingstone suni, oribi, Blue duiker, nyala, and more.
