A trip through time

Johnny Moore stepped foot in the former First Christian Church on Tuesday which was the location of his marriage to the former Martha Bearden of Howe. He was escorted by his daughters Johnna Stephenson and Ramona Harper.
Moore, of Commerce, reminisced looking around the room while remembering his late wife who recently passed in August. The family came armed with photographs from their February 14, 1959 wedding date which showed the building, now Summit Gardens, with original church pews and knee walls.
The church building was later gifted to the City of Howe in 1982 and renovated as an event venue beginning in 2015 and completed in 2020.
