Retired Army Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, the former director of national intelligence, said the United States is in the middle of a “battle of Good vs. Evil.”

“The battle we are engaged in cannot be fought with only human weapons: It requires the intervention of God because in a war against the forces of evil, only the Lord can obtain the victory,” Flynn wrote in an op-ed published on Dec. 10.

“And as American citizens, we must refuse to go to the funeral of our own independence,” he added. “We the people are proud to proclaim that the United States of America is ‘One Nation under God.’”

Flynn, who was President Donald Trump’s national security adviser, was recently pardoned by the president. Flynn has been a supporter of Trump’s claims of election fraud.

Howe Chamber raffling a gun for Secret Santa promotion

Someone will get a new rifle for Christmas as the Howe Area Chamber of Commerce doing a rifle raffle to benefit their Secret Santa program to help a local family.

The rifle is a Ruger Precision M18028, 308 caliber and was purchased from Guns N More on Celtic Road in Howe. Guns N More installed a VIPER scope to make the total value of the rife at $1,600.

Each raffle ticket is $20 and can be purchased online at howechamber.com or by visiting the Howe Area Chamber of Commerce at 101 E. Haning Street, Howe, Texas.
