Stress

Physical, mental, or emotional stress is the result of having to deal with a demanding situation. The "fight or flight" reaction is an adaptive mechanism that kicks in when a person senses danger. Chemicals like cortisol and adrenaline are secreted when a person is under stress, and these hormones cause the body to react in certain ways. Some of the physical responses to stress are a quicker heartbeat, shallower breaths, and a heightened state of awareness. The impacts of stress are not limited to the mental realm. Headaches, tight muscles, tummy troubles, and disturbed sleep are all physical manifestations of stress.
