Dr Harry Blutstein’s presentation is based on his latest book entitled, ‘How Can They Call it Murder’
In April 2021, Dr Harry Blutstein attended the trial of Barbara Eckersley, who was charged with murdering her 92-year-old mother by feeding her Nembutal, a drug often used for euthanising people. The Crown even acknowledged that she was motivated by “love and compassion.” In the absence of liberal dying-with-dignity laws, more mercy killings can be expected. Dr Blutstein will explore the legal and moral issues this case raises and suggest how the law can be reformed.
