After the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) was declared a global pandemic by the World Health Organization in March 2020, the number of infections in Thailand also drastically increased, according to Thailand’s Depar tment of Disease Control, Ministry of Public Health (MOPH). The German-Thai Chamber of Commerce (GTCC) adjusted its operation to protect the health and safety of its members, partners and staff. Following the adoption of precautionary measures, GTCC physical events from 16 March to 30 June 2020 were either postponed or cancelled. Despite working from home, the GTCC fully supported its members and customers in various ways including the activities detailed below: • Five e-newsletters of GTCC’s update on COVID-19 were sent to the German-Thai business community to provide them with useful and updated information regarding COVID-19, based on external sources. • Two letters, one on social security payment and another concerning support to businesses for maintaining employment were submitted to the Minister of Finance by the Foreign Chamber Alliance (FCA) on 10 April and 12 June 2020, respectively. • #Par tnerInThailand social media campaign was launched on 29 April 2020, inviting GTCC members to tell the stories of par tner German companies in Thailand in a two-minute video. The campaign showcased 15 examples of contributions by GTCC member companies to the economic development of Thailand, and the close co-operation between German and Thai companies on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube from May to June 2020. • From April 2020, GTCC launched another e-newsletter that featured GTCC members’ special promotions in order to suppor t members in the food and beverage, hospitality and health-care sectors. • From 16 March to 30 June 2020, 20 virtual events were organised via Zoom as summarised on the next page:
