Summer will be arriving soon, and it is one of my favourite times of the year. The period before Harvest. The days are warmer and longer and the winery is abuzz with consistently large amounts of visitors bringing in their energy.
Outside of the winery, summer is time spent with my family and friends in the sunshine. I still maintain long hours here at the winery, but I am very intentional in how I spend my time otherwise. It usually involves sunshine, our wines or a beer (plenty of options locally).
This summer will be an interesting one, as everything has been this year. We’ve all gotten used to masks, a lack of handshakes and the trepidation experienced when we greet people. We’ve gotten used to purchasing online, holiday planning within Australia and really championed the concept of ‘locals supporting local’.
It’s great to see how Australia has rallied to support our local market.
We each have our part to play, and my part in this big puzzle is to make wine.
It’s the gear I feel most comfortable with. It’s a role that has proven to offer folk a reason to gather. Food and wine, good company, good conversation. It all adds to the spice of life that we all need this year and into next. We are in the process of releasing some fantastic new wines perfect for the warmer months which you can try in our cellar door 7 days a week. And while this is happening we are also keeping a very close eye on the vineyards in preparation for the 2022 harvest!
Bring on summer!
