The historic and 71st Waseca Sleigh & Cutter Festival is a great reason to celebrate winter in Minnesota. This year’s growing list of events begins Jan. 23 and runs through the end of February. The festival dates back to 1950 — the Waseca Sleigh & Cutter Festival started as the vision of a group of guys gathered in a local barber shop. New this year is Winter Charm on the Farm held at Farmamerica outside on Jan. 23 and Feb. 20. Horse-drawn sleigh rides will be offered along with hot chocolate and s’mores to enjoy while standing around campfires from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. This event is free to members and pass holders and is a $5 admission fee for anyone wanting to participate. On the same days, Farmamerica is opening the site to all for people to bring their own snowshoes to go around the site or to cross-country ski around the site. Site walking tours, snow painting and a snowflake scavenger hunt are also planned. Tickets can be purchased at bit.ly/WinterCharm or check the Farmamerica website for more information.
