CLEAN EATZ

Clean Eatz focuses on healthy fare — cooked without oil and without added salt or sugar — without sacrificing flavor in dishes like baked boneless wings with Buffalo sauce and bison burgers with turkey bacon and low-fat cheese. Calories, BTW, are listed next to all café menu items as well as the grab-and-go meals stocked in the freezers. Smoothies are worth a slurp. Open daily. (reviewed Jan. 12) 2205 S. Orange Ave., 407-2370493, cleaneatz.com, $$

THE MILKHOUSE

Food hall-ish venue in the heart of the Milk District corrals an all-star lineup of local heavy hitters: the Ravenous Pig Brewing Co., Kelly’s Homemade Ice Cream and two concepts by Bruno Zacchini — Bagel Bruno and Cicchetti, his homage to the inviting bacari of Venice, where small bites and quality quaffs lure in the after-work faithful. Open daily. (reviewed Dec. 22) 201 N. Bumby Ave., 407-237-0575, milkhousesocial.com, $$

JALAPEÑO’S MEXICAN EATS

The barbacoa stars at this Maitland taqueria, though the chicken tinga and al pastor shouldn’t be overlooked. You won’t find tamales done any better than they are here. Flan is homemade and the horchata, light and not overly cloying, impresses. Closed Sundays. (reviewed Dec. 15) 681 N. Orlando Ave., Maitland, 321-972-4086, facebook.com/ jalapenosmexicaneats, $$

HEART OF JERUSALEM CAFE

Heart-shaped falafel are the draw, but za’atar-laden manakeesh is a doughy round of comfort. The kebab platter gratifies with grilled cubes of lamb and chicken, but the ground kufta upstages them all. Sage tea with lemonade is the drink of choice. Closed Mondays.
