Holiday Dinner Giveaway Slated The 34th annual Lancaster County Project for the Needy (LCPN) holiday dinner giveaway has partnered with the United Way of Lancaster and UPMC Pinnacle Health to provide a complete holiday meal for families throughout Lancaster County on Saturday, Dec. 19. Due to COVID-19 and the Department of Health’s safety guidelines, the process for this year’s annual event will be different. The holiday meal distribution will take place by delivery only. There will be no pickup location at the Barnstormers’ stadium. UPMC has partnered with LCPN to
provide COVID-19 health screenings to volunteers. Families can preregister for this event by calling the United Way’s 211 or 855567-5341 from Friday, Nov. 27, through Friday, Dec. 11. Registration is required no later than Dec. 11. A volunteer will deliver the holiday meal to registered participants on the morning of Dec. 19. The project anticipates distributing over 1,200 boxes of turkey dinners with all the trimmings to lowincome families throughout Lancaster County. Lancaster, the LCPN will also continue the partnership with Elizabethtown Community Homeless Outreach Services, Conestoga Valley Christian Community Services (CVCCS), the Columbia Lions, and Solanco Food Pantry to provide meals to families in designated areas. The LCPN is still seeking donations to offset the cost of purchasing the groceries for the dinner. The project relies on individual donations for over two-thirds of the resources needed to fund the food distribution. For information about how to contribute, readers may visit www.lcpn.org.
Governor Dick Environmental Center, 3283 Pinch Road, Mount Gretna, will offer two special events in November. Programs are open to the public, but preregistration is required by contacting 717-964-3808 or governordick@hotmail.com and
providing a name and phone number. Attendees should meet at the Environmental Center. Toddlers in Tow: Ready, Set, Winter! will begin at 10 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 20. Children ages 2 to 5 will learn what animals do to prepare
for the winter season. The program is free. The 10th annual Bouldering Competition will take place at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 21. The event is open to beginners through advanced competitors. There is a fee to participate.
