From Waffle Irons to a Global Strength Leader

For 30 years Eleiko manufactured small electrical appliances. Then, in 1957, an inspired idea reshaped our future.

Eleiko’s factory supervisor Mr Hällström, an avid weightlifter, set our to find a solution to barbells that routinely bent and broke. He approached Mrs Johansson, the managing director, with his idea and received permission to pursue the project. Partnering with a Swedish steel company, Eleiko developed a proprietary hardened steel — refined over time and still in use today.

A nod to our origin, the barbell was crafted with a signature waffle-patterned knurling. To complement this much-improved barbell, Eleiko produced a collection of metal weightlifting plates setting a new course for the company’s future.

We distilled six decades of experience into a single, modular strength system — customisable, scalable, and built for lasting performance and safety. Prestera, meaning “performance” in Swedish, blends a sleek, user-centric aesthetic with precision engineering.

Through rigorous analysis and testing, we refined our rack and rig design — eliminating excess bulk while maintaining strength, safety, and durability, all with fewer materials. The result is a space efficient system optimised for the ultimate lifting experience.

Magnesia Container

Eleiko magnesia container’s tapered cylindrical shape gives the piece a modern clean aesthetic and allow for ample access. Resin is placed in the base of the container giving athletes easy access to the resin before they take on the platform.

Plate Racks

Our Plate Racks keep all the essentials in one place for efficient weight changes during competition. It holds the competition plates along with a competition collar, keeping your equipment well organized for swift and orderly loading and unloading.

Barbell Lifter

The barbell lifter’s robust design enable quick weight changes and easy bar movement while also protecting bars from damage. It gives loaders a better leverage point allowing barbells to be lifted with less effort and spring-loaded wheels make it easier to move barbells as needed.

Eleiko’s journey started in 1957 with a dream of a better barbell. At the 1963 World Championships in Stockholm, we introduced the first bar to endure an entire competition without bending or breaking — setting a new standard in strength equipment.

The Eleiko IPF Powerlifting Competition Bar continues that legacy. Built in Halmstad, Sweden, from our proprietary Eleiko Steel™, the 29 mm shaft delivers the stiffness needed for heavy squats, bench presses, and deadlifts — staying rigid under max loads.

Combining Swedish-made quality with responsible production, the IPF Competition Bar is made from 97% recycled steel and has an 80% lower CO₂ footprint than the global steel average.

Our Optimal Rotation System™ ensures smooth, controlled rotation — tailored to the slower, heavier lifts of powerlifting. Bare steel with aggressive 1.5 Power Knurling — a deep volcano pattern — locks your grip throughout the lift. Narrow flanges increase plate capacity and position weights closer to the center, improving bar control.

Fatigue-resistant sleeve design, Dual Lock system, and dustproof seal protect against moisture, chalk, and wear. Built to last and backed by Eleiko’s lifetime warranty.

Gold-coloured accents mark IPF-certified competition bars; silver distinguishes the training version. A laser-etched ID ring on the flange displays weight and model for easy bar identification in fast-paced training and competition settings.

The Eleiko IPF Powerlifting Competition Plates are elegantly designed cast iron discs with a thin profile allowing for more weight to be loaded onto the bar for seriously heavy lifts. Precisely calibrated and certified for competition, the discs are guaranteed to be within the tolerances according to the IPF Rules and regulations.

Disc weights are easily identified by our attractive Powerlifting colours and clear raised white lettering. A lipped circumference ensures a secure grip for safe disc handling, loading and unloading.

Smaller Increases

Pair with the Eleiko Powerlifting Competition Change Plates for smaller weight increases. The plates are IPF approved metal plates with a large lip and curved edge for secure handling.

Eleiko’s new Competition Collar is the first to be certified by all three strength sports federations—IWF, IPF, and WPPO. The design features a proprietary TPE ring which compresses and rotates to secure the connection between the bar flange, plates, and collars, reducing wear on plate hubs and dampening noise.

Eleiko’s distinctive 1.2 knurling on the lever and tightening wheel, along with the sandblasted grip contours, improve the loading experience. The compact design and indexed locking lever make for a more secure fit and smoother sleeve rotation.

The 2024 IPF World Bench Press Championships in Austin, Texas, marked a historic moment for the sport — among the largest IPF bench press events held.
