Neighbors
Hello Neighbor! professionally. He inspired me to live life to the fullest now—don’t wait until retirement to travel and explore hobbies.
MY FAMILY IS… my biggest comfort and such a source of pride. I have been married to my college sweetheart, Mike, for 27 years. We love Arizona as a whole, and Scottsdale in particular. We plan to retire here. Our son, Adam, went to flight school and became a commercial pilot. He worked as a flight instructor at the Scottsdale Airport and is on track to graduate from Arizona State University this December with a civil engineering degree. I’m so happy he found a profession that he enjoys.
HELLO, MY NAME IS… Kate Daigle I’VE LIVED IN SCOTTSDALE FOR SIX YEARS, AND I LOVE… how much Scottsdale has to offer! I can walk downtown, bike the canal path, or hike the Camelback trail. I love Thursday night Artwalk, Scottsdazzle, and Canal Convergence. I can take my horse on a trail ride in the desert, all without leaving town! A TYPICAL DAY IN MY LIFE INCLUDES… working with stray, sick, and injured animals at the Arizona Humane Society. I am a veterinarian and love the work I do. It is so rewarding to help an animal get well and find a forever home. After work my husband and I like to take a walk on the canal, often we head to Old Town for dinner. On my days off you can find me at the barn with my horse, Prima! I also take care of my elderly neighbor, and I enjoy going out to happy hour with my friends.
ONE THING I CANNOT LIVE WITHOUT IS… time with my favorite animal, Prima. She is a lovely horse, and we spend hours on trails around Scottsdale. I enjoy taking her to Flagstaff in the summers, so we can cool off and ride in the pines. She is the best mental health imaginable, and such a joy to be around. We are both learning new skills, and recently had our first win at an eventing competition! MY FAVORITE MOVIE I COULD NEVER GET TIRED OF WATCHING IS… Love Actually. I love how the story lines intertwine and converge. It’s happy and sad and joyful and heartbreaking—with

THE LAST THING THAT MADE ME LAUGH OUT LOUD WAS… A few weeks ago when my husband and I sat through an entire movie and wondered why it was blurry at times. We never asked anybody about it. Turns out it was a 3D movie, and we didn’t have the glasses. We laughed and laughed––oh well!
a sprinkle of humor and songs. I watch it every Christmas, and anytime Harkins plays it on the big screen.
THE PERFECT DAY FOR ME INCLUDES… A morning horse ride, spa day at the Phoenician, happy hour and bar hopping with my husband, and walking around Old Town in the evening.
WHEN I WAS YOUNGER, I WANTED TO BE… a veterinarian. I have been around animals my entire life and could not imagine my life without animals in it. I’m so fortunate to have had a 21-year career (so far), and I’m still learning and improving my skills. THE SONG I WOULD SING AT KARAOKE NIGHT IS… no song. My singing voice is best left to long car rides by myself. However, if I was granted a beautiful voice, I would belt out “Hello” by Adele. THE ONE PERSON WHO MOTIVATES ME IS… My dad. He passed away several years ago, but I still remember the encouragement he gave me in my career and life. He counseled me to take leadership roles and push myself myhyperlocalnews.com
