STRENGTH WEAKNESSES

Once a Lodge Outline has been developed, you are able to start considering the Lodge’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. List everything relevant to each area and then look to agree specific actions to enhance/promote the strengths and opportunities, reduce or remove the weaknesses and threats.

How would the Lodge describe itself in terms of… ritual, tradition, social, charity, support of new members, etc?

8

What’s important to the members? (ritual, tradition, social, festive board, etc)

Once this is complete, strengths and weaknesses may be discovered; members can then move forward and consider what changes and improvements they would like to consider for the future so that the Lodge can thrive.

9

What’s important to a new or joining member?

A Lodge Outline template is available within the Members’ Pathway documents, but please speak with your membership team first as they may have a document that is preferred by your Metropolitan, Provincial or District Grand Lodge.

5

Why should a man join the Lodge? (what are you offering?)

10

It is recommended that each Lodge takes the time to reflect on, and agree, what the characteristics of a Lodge are, so that it can plan where and what it wants to be in the future.

OPPORTUNITIES

The easiest way of achieving this is by completing a Lodge Outline, sometimes referred to as a Lodge Profile, which covers all aspects of the Lodge. It is crucial to involve as many members of the Lodge as possible when completing a Lodge Outline – it is also essential to be honest and critical but constructive.
