June 23 - The EDQ team took a day trip to Wandi Nerida to see the new facility and learn about their program

June 25 - Shane Jeffrey from River Oak Health came to EDQ to provide a training day on the RAVES model

Belinda Chelius interviewed Professor Nicholas Martin and Cynthia Bulik to raise awareness of the Eating Disorders Genetics Initiative (EDGI) within the Queensland eating disorder community. The EDGI study aims to identify hundreds of genes that influence a person’s risk of developing anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa & binge-eating disorder in order to improve treatments, &, ultimately save lives. EDQ encourages anyone who is interested in this study to consider becoming a participant.

EVENTS - CONFERENCES

ICED 2021 – Silver Sponsors

For International Conference on Eating Disorders (ICED) annual conference this year EDQ was a silver sponsor. The theme for this year was Cultivating Inclusivity & Diversity Across Research & Practice. EDQ’s CEO Belinda and student Jess Tone presented on Therapeutic Interventions for Eating Disorders as an Alternative to the Medical Model. This presentation was available to all international conference attendees.

Nat Scales presenting on 10-Week Therapeutic Group

The Mental Health Services (TheMHS) Conference is Australasia’s leading and most diverse mental health conference. The 2021 theme was ‘Balancing the System’.

EDQ attended TheMHS, 9-12 February 2021. This conference was based in Perth, but was held virtually. EDQ submitted a poster on the Community Table, and EDQ staff Nat Scales and Christophe Langlasse presented on our Peer Mentoring Program and our Ten -Week Therapeutic Treatment Group. This was EDQ’s first time participating in the MHS conference.
