Passenger need to know CANADIAN CITIZENS Canadian citizens traveling by air to, through, or from the U.S. must present a valid Canadian passport. At participating airports a NEXUS card may be used.This requirement applies to all travelers, including children.
U.S. CITIZENS & PERMANENT RESIDENTS AIR TRAVEL The Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative requires anyone, including U.S. citizens and permanent residents, leaving or returning to the U.S. by air to have a passport or a NEXUS card at designated airports.
PASSPORT REGULATIONS International visitors to Canada must carry a valid passport and a visa, if required. Citizens from the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Mexico, Japan the Republic of Korea, Australia, and others do not require a visa to enter Canada. For a complete listing go to www.cic.gc.ca.
LAND & SEA TRAVEL Canadian citizens as of January 31, 2008, the United States will end the practice of accepting oral declarations of citizenship at the border. Canadian citizens ages 19 and older must present documentation that proves both identity and citizenship. Identification documents must include a photo, name and date of birth. View the documentary requirements for Canadian and Mexican residents at CBP.gov. Children ages 18 and under will only be required to present proof of citizenship, such as a birth certificate.
