Bristol Charities launches search for new CEO

Current leader will continue to develop plans Bristol's first multigenerational centre for living and working before handing over to her successor in spring 2022 One of Bristol's oldest charities has launched a search for a new CEO following the highly successful tenure of its current leader. Bristol Charities is a registered UK charity which provides opportunities and support for people and communities to improve lives through grants, housing and charitable projects in Bristol and South Wales. Current chief executive officer Anne Anketell has led the organisation for eight years with key achievements including the merger of two of Bristol's oldest almshouse charities; the building and opening of a state-of-theart extra care housing scheme, Haberfield House in Stockwood; and purchasing and developing a new vision for the Vassall Centre, Fishponds. Anne will continue to lead the team of architects, planners and Bristol Charities' trustees and partners to develop the next stage of plans for the Vassall Centre, for discussion with tenants, stakeholders and the local community ahead of planning application next spring.

Proposals for Bristol's first truly multigenerational centre include much-needed, affordable, contemporary homes for older people; high-quality affordable homes for families, along with accessible, contemporary workspace for businesses and charities and a range of new community facilities. Anne is actively involved in the recruitment of her successor and will be on hand to ensure a smooth handover and transition before she leaves the organisation at the end of April 2022. Bristol Charities' trustees would like to thank Anne for her dedication, vision, significant achievements and her enormous contribution to supporting elderly and vulnerable people and their communities. Chair of trustees, Richard Gore said: "We are hugely grateful to Anne for her hard work, creativity and highly successful leadership of Bristol Charities, helping us to grow the charity to support more elderly and vulnerable people and deliver many more much-needed, modern and affordable homes for older people.
