Cast Your Burdens on Jesus

by Roy Chapman

God knows the root of your problems and He knows how to solve every one of them. On your own, you cannot handle them with a great deal of success. He wants to handle them for you because He never intended for you to carry a heavy load. First Peter 5:7 (NIV), affirms you to, “Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.” Jesus desires to be your burden bearer. Jesus, Himself, said these words in Matthew 11:2930, “Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” Throughout every difficult situation, we must focus on the Word of God and He will give us perfect peace. He made all of us. Therefore, He knows we cannot carry heavy burdens. We need to cast all the cares of yesterday, today, and tomorrow on the Lord. He will give us perfect peace when our minds are focused on Him and not on our problems. We need to lay our burdens at the nail pierced feet of Jesus and leave them there. Yes, the winds of life may blow and your boat may be tossed in the sea, but you can be anchored in Him. An anchor is a large piece of metal tied to a ship or boat to keep it stationary in the water. If you let Jesus be the anchor of your life, the worldly things around you will only have limited influence. However, you will stand firm amidst everything going on around you when Jesus is your anchor. That is the peace available to you when you trust Him in all you do. In Hebrews 6:19, Paul uses an anchor to indicate the stability of God’s promise of salvation to those who believe in Him. Regardless of what is going on around you, God will provide comfort.
