Take some time and drive the back roads, stopping and visiting one of the twenty unincorporated communities while you enjoy the unspoiled beauty of the quiet countryside. Check out the Chamber’s website and make sure you take advantage of one of the many entertaining and cultural events in Burleson County such as the Kolache Festival, the Hunter’s Wife Weekend, Chilifest and many more. If you enjoy camping and water sports, Lake Somerville is the place for you. Whatever your outdoor passion, you can pursue it here. Birch Creek and Nails Creek offer access to the lake for fishing, boating, paddling and swimming. On land at either unit, you can camp, picnic, hike, ride mountain bikes, geocache, and go birding. I encourage you to explore miles of multiuse trails utilizing the map of Lake Somerville State Park Trails created by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.
