From fireworks shows and festivals to boat and land parades, Highland Lakes communities offer locals and visitors a colorful variety of events for Fourth of July celebrations.
Kingsland AquaBoom
By far, the largest Independence Day celebration in the area is Kingsland AquaBoom. Fan favorite festivities include the live music and a fireworks show, which culminates with a grand finale display over the Llano River on July 4.
For more than 50 years, the event has conjured a festival-type atmosphere with land & boat parades, fundraising golf tournament, street dance, vendors, patriotic concert and more over several days leading up to the main fireworks show.
“This not only provides a much needed economic influx to local businesses in our community, but also allows families enjoy an affordable, fun and safe opportunity to celebrate,” according to organizers.
2022 AquaBoom events include: • June 17 – 9th Annual Lil’ Aquaboom Baby Show at 6 p.m. at Packsaddle Elementary School, featuring boys and girls categories. • June 18 – Miss AquaBoom Scholarship Pageant with categories such as Teeny Tiny Miss and Young Miss to Tween Miss and Teen Miss. The crowning of Miss AquaBoom and presentation of the Royal Court is the premier event at Packsaddle Elementary School. For questions, email missaquaboom@gmail. com.
• June 24 – The Kingsland Masonic Lodge, 900 Texas Street, hosts the annual patriotic meal from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and • July 1 – Annual golf tournament at Legends Golf Course scheduled for a 9 a.m. shotgun start at Legends Golf Course, 105 Rangeway Circle. • July 2 – 17th Annual Horseshoe Pitch Tournament at Kingsland Community Park, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. • July 3 & 4 – visitors can find vendors at an all-day arts and crafts show from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 1335 Ranch Road 1431 behind M&M Donuts. • July 4 – Kingsland celebrates freedom and independence with three parades, a costume contest and fireworks.
The following events are scheduled for Monday, July 4: • 7:30 a.m. the land parade staging and registration begins; Children’s parade staging and registration runs from 8 to 8:30 a.m. The children’s parade starts at 9 a.m. and the land parade follows at 10 a.m. • Noon & 12:30 p.m. – Registration for the patriotic costume contest starts at noon with the competition kicking off at 12:30 p.m. • 5 p.m. – Rubber Ducky Race with cash prize winners starts at the 2900 Bridge. • 6 p.m. – The boat parade can be viewed from the RR 1431 Bridge to the FM 2900 Enloe Memorial Bridge. • 9:15 or Dusk – The AquaBoom Fireworks Show launches.

Marble Falls Community Fireworks Celebration
Marble Falls’ Community Fireworks Celebration is another event that draws a large crowd. The band and food vendors are located at Lakeside Park, 305 Buena Vista Dr. Food vendors are present from 6 to 10 p.m.
Fireworks typically begin at approximately 9:15 p.m. and last 15 to 20 minutes.
Horseshoe Bay POA
The Horseshoe Bay Property Owners Association hosts Independence Day events for members, their families and friends. The fireworks display can be
seen from atop Thanksgiving Mountain as well as on the grounds of Quail Point Lodge.
The activities the POA plans include: • The land parade, led by a flag-bearing Marble Falls VFW Honor Guard, which typically happens at 9:30 a.m.; • The boat parade that will pass by the shoreline of Quail Point Lodge at 10:30 a.m.; • Children’s activities begin at 10 a.m. with a number of stations including facepainting and other festivities for the young ones; • A patriotic sit-down show featuring the singing of our National Anthem, the speeches and highlights of Horseshoe Bay’s history and growth, dance routines and live music scheduled for 11:30 a.m. in the large Lake Room inside the lodge; and • An outside area will be set up to provide hot dogs, chips, watermelon, lemonade, ice-cold water and plenty of food and drink for the crowd to enjoy.
In 2022, the event was a celebration of the United States of America’s 246th birthday and Horseshoe Bay’s 51th anniversary.
Llano
Llano Rock’N Riverfest, hosted by the Llano Volunteer Fire Department, highlights watersports fun on the Llano River with jet ski races touting prize purses as part of the national qualifying Area residents descend on Lake Marble Falls each year for an Independence Day celebration. championship as well as clinics and exhibitions, along with a car show and family activities at Badu Park, 300 Legion Drive. The event is scheduled for July 2 & 3, 2022. The fireworks shows are scheduled for “Dark:30” on Saturday and Sunday nights. The event is free for spectators. The car show is scheduled on Saturday.
Spicewood
In Spicewood Krause Springs, 424 CR 404 in Burnet County is an iconic venue combining idyllic natural features with rustic amenities for one of the most Hill Country experiences. On July 4, guests are welcome to view a fireworks show launched inside the venue as long as they remain prior to the gate closing at 8 p.m. For those who are unable to be inside, area residents either line adjacent county roads or participate in a newly-launched tradition of staging at the parking lot of nearby Spicewood Elementary, 1005 Spur 191.
Bertram
The Bertram Volunteer Fire Department sponsors fireworks at the park, 549 E. FM 243 in the city, located in Burnet County. The event begins at 7 p.m. at the baseball fields with fireworks planned to begin at dark.
