The Perfect Triangle of Swiss Chocolate
7 Billion Reasons to Love It
More than 7 billion Toblerone bars are produced each year, and 97% of them travel outside Switzerland to 120 countries. The iconic brand, founded in 1909, is today a global symbol of Swiss chocolate.
A Name with History and Flavor
The name “Toblerone” combines the surname of Swiss chocolatier Theodor Tobler with the Italian word “torrone” (nougat), reflecting its innovative blend of milk chocolate, honey, almonds, and nougat.

Inspiration in the Form of a Show
Did you know that the triangular shape of each bar could have been inspired by the dancers at the Folies Bergère in Paris? According to Tobler’s son, these performers formed human pyramids at the end of the show, dressed in shades of red and beige... just like the colors of the packaging.
Packaging with a Swiss soul
The design has evolved: from the double-headed eagle to the heraldic bear of Bern, and finally to the Matterhorn, whose silhouette is also reflected in each triangular piece. If you look closely, you’ll discover the figure of a bear hidden in the mountain.
From national symbol to pop phenomenon
Toblerone even inspired the nickname of a Swiss military defensive line (“Tobleroneweg”) because of the similarity of its concrete blocks to bars. And in 1995, it starred in the famous “Toblerone Affair” in Sweden.
Same price worldwide?
Good news for chocolate lovers: there’s not much difference in prices between Europe and Mexico, so you don’t have to wait for Duty Free to get a bar.
