Project Soapful Getting Soap Into The Hands That Need It
W
hen faced with the disappointment of a canceled class trip, O’Fallon eighth grader Isabel (Bella) Wells was determined to turn a negative into a positive. Armed with spending money she had saved for her trip, she contemplated ways to help her community fight back against Covid 19. Soon after, she launched Project Soapful, a campaign to bring soap to those that are vulnerable or in need. She turned to Facebook (facebook.com/projectsoapful) to see if anyone else would be interested in donating. She immediately received donations from family, friends, and local residents. “It makes me so happy to think we might be able to prevent just one infection. Just one saved illness could have a snowball effect, and countless others might be saved from exposure.” said Wells. To date, Wells has received nearly $400 in donations, and is distributing hundreds of bottles of soap to those in need. When she grows up, Wells plans to pursue a degree in medicine. She was recently accepted into Washington University’s Middle School Summer Challenge, where she is excited to engage in new academic opportunities. Want to help Bella buy soap for those in need?
