ME-TIME MOMENTS

Be prepared to bliss out and enjoy some restorative R&R at the Weavers’ House Spa in Suffolk.

The spa is due to reopen at the Swan at Lavenham Hotel on 26th April with a new focus on wellness and an online booking system for both body and facial treatments from its Re-invention Menu available from Monday, 12th April. The spa aims to find out how people are feeling and the effects of lockdown on their wellbeing with a pre-treatment questionnaire to help therapists assess clients’ needs, so treatments can be tailored to suit them.

There’s no need to rush off afterwards either, as you can continue to unwind with a glass of fizz in the comfy lounge or chillout on a sun lounger in the courtyard garden when the weather’s warm. For more details visit www.theswanatlavenham.co.uk/spa Local cake supremo Terri Newman has been named 2021 Suffolk Wedding Cake Designer of the Year in the LuxLife global annual wedding awards.

The accolade is the latest honour for Terri since she first started Hadleigh-based Erivica Cakes. On hearing the news she said, “To say I was surprised is a massive understatement and it has given us a massive boost in positivity.”

Terri was first inspired by her mum Erica who used to make wedding and celebration cakes for family and friends as a hobby. After she died 16 years ago, Terri inherited all her tools and equipment and gradually taught herself to use them. “I love the fact that I still learn something new every day! My ideal cake to make is something that is completely personal. I like to have as much information as possible about my customers so that I can feature elements of their lives and personalities to make it unique to them. I also like to create unusual cakes and take inspiration from everything around me.” To find out more visit www.erivicacakes.com

Tasty treat If you’re planning a get together with your best girls or boys, the latest launch by award-winning vegan restaurant brand Stem & Glory is just the ticket. Great for adding an authentic flavour to your pre-wedding celebrations, the business has introduced the ‘finish-at-home’ vegan pizza. The launch is part of a rapid expansion of its online store serving restaurant-quality meals well beyond its home towns of Cambridgeshire and London to all over the UK. The pizzas have a Stem & Glory healthy twist including a lip-smacking menu of toppings made in-house entirely from vegetables and each one arrives ready for you to bake at home.

Founder Louise Palmer-Masterton said, “We created our artisan pizza menu during the first lockdown, intending to launch at our new Cambridge site, but the latest lockdown has allowed us to develop it into a finish-at-home version. It has been so well received we will definitely be keeping it in our online store after we open again.” Visit www.stemandglory.uk

FOR SHE’S A JOLLY GOOD FELLOW

Emily Jupp, artist/designer and founder of Milly J Shoes, has been made a fellow of the Royal Society of the Arts. After starting out in 2011 making individual shoe sculptures as art pieces for shop window displays, home and wedding décor, it’s the latest achievement in her successful career. From her early beginnings Milly has gained widespread recognition, including demand from celebrities wanting to wear her shoes, art exhibitions and a string of awards. Working from her shop and studio in the heart of Norwich, she creates bespoke special occasion shoes by hand in a wide range of themes from wearable octopus creations to demure peacock feather and satin designs. The brand has also reimagined the shoe clip as a statement accessory to pimp up your footwear.

Customers can either bring in shoes or Milly will source them and work her magic from there. You can have a pair upcycled, or even made entirely from scratch. Sustainability is important to the business so Milly encourages people to bring in old shoes to have them reinvented. “The importance of collaboration, sensitive design and inclusivity with clients are also key factors while having fun with innovation,” she adds. PRE-WEDDING FUN

On the hunt for something new to see off your single days? Cambridgeshire family-owned Kingsway Golf Centre has invested just shy of three quarters of a million pounds during national lockdown to bring extra fun to your doorstep.

The investment includes the spectacular Jurassic Links, a dinosaurthemed adventure golf site designed for fun-loving adults, families and youngsters. Putting through hazards, players will have to navigate through a jeep, walk through a cascading waterfall, while being overlooked by a Pterodactyl and a soon-to-arrive 30-foot T-Rex, which will guard the centre and overlook the main road. Founded by Julian Dell and business partner John Watts, the centre is now the brainchild and inspiration of John’s son James, an ex-pro golfer on the European Challenge Tour who joined the business four years ago. James explains, “The decision was made to invest in the business 18 months ago and we wanted something to stand out. So, working closely with a specially formed, creative and experienced team we have really started to bring the adventure golf to life.”

The development follows another major investment last year in a stateof-the-art ball tracking system for the 40-bay driving range. Kingsway also boasts a nine-hole pay-and-play golf course, a nine-hole pitch and putt, and a family-friendly footgolf. The centre should be reopening from the end of March when restrictions ease and all games of golf and adventure golf will be timed to allow for safe social distancing. SMALL BUT MIGHTY

Norfolk super star Jack the miniature Shetland pony is on a mission to bring a smile to people’s faces. With his well-groomed good looks, he’s well known on the local wedding scene and is a real show-stealer kitted out in his leather bridle, lead rope, decorated harness and wicker baskets filled with petal confetti. “Jack really enjoys all the attention he gets at weddings,” says owner Ali Stearn.

During the current challenging times he’s not been resting on his laurels but has been putting his charms to good use in his other important role; bringing joy to dementia patients. As an ambassador for Dementia UK, Ali and Jack have been on a mission to not only raise smiles but funds for the charity by visiting local care homes. During lockdown they’ve been stepping up the visits and although they can’t go inside, just seeing Jack from the window has been a real tonic for the residents. “Jack loves his outings too. We have really missed going into the homes, so this has been just as wonderful for me and Jack, as it has for them," adds Ali. To find out more visit www.jackbrock.co.uk

IN TO THE BLUE

The latest fragrances from iconic brand Tiffany & Co., Tiffany & Love Eau de Toilette for Him and Tiffany & Love Eau de Parfum for Her, were created as a tribute to modern love and the pairing is perfect for nearlyweds tying the knot.

The male scent is a citrusy, aromatic fragrance with a wood-infused base. It begins with oils of ginger, mandarin and cardamon, at the heart is a juniper-cypress blend and it boasts base notes of sandalwood, vetiver and the common ingredient of the duo blue sequoia – uniting these two fragrances together!

The female fragrance is modern with a feminine, floral, woody scent. It opens with top notes of blue basil – a botanical ingredient developed exclusively for Tiffany – then follows with a hearty sweet floral bouquet of neroli, underlined with a woody blend of blue sequoia, vetiver and cedarwood at the base.

Priced at £54(50ml) or £75(90ml) for Him, and £75(50ml) or £110(90ml) for Her. Check out www.theperfumeshop.com
