According to Billings, now is the time to make sure that your immunizations are up to date before you go out to play in the local waterways.

“All immunizations, including tetanus, to help mitigate the risk posed by debris in a ooding situation,” Billings said.

Stay alert.

Billings urges Je co residents to sign up for the Lookout Alert System to stay informed of ash ooding, especially after such a wet June.

“ e Lookout Alert is the o cial emergency noti cation system for our county (as well as our neighbors, Broom eld and Westminster),” Billings said. “Residents can sign up to receive critical noti cations about emergencies near them.”

In addition to signing up for alerts, Billings advised Je co residents and visitors to watch the weather.

“When there is rain or storms in the forecast, avoid any areas that already have high or rushing water, as these can ood quickly,” she said.

Summer fun is possible despite all the additional water that Je erson County is experiencing this year. Just take the proper precautions to keep the entire family safe.
