Post master Lynn Laskoski said all the money raised stays in the

grants. “Anybody that works with children and youth can apply,” she said, adding this year’s raffle was kicked off with a barbeque in May that attracted at least 50 people. “We charged $5 and had pulled chicken on a bun, potato salad, baked beans, strawberry shortcake and a drink,” she said, adding that their four staff members volunteered at the barbeque which was held at the post office. The raffle had four main prizes which included a garden basket with a greenhouse gift certificate won by Joe Fornal, a summer fun basket and gift card won by Amber Kostyk, and a BMX bike won by Marian Shihinski. In addition, Laskoski said they also have a food bank draw where donations bought in for the

food bank earn the donators name into the draw which, this year, was a hanging basket won by Jennifer Brewer. Prizes were donated by Holden Post Office staff members. Laskoski said she likes doing the raffle every year and supports the good cause. “I really enjoy it because it's nice. You can socially gather and raise funds for children and youth,” she said. “It's a passionate thing I enjoy doing for Canada Post and our employees really enjoy doing it as well.”
