Home Depot Corporate Guidelines
There are no "yes" men at Home Depot. "Employees are very good at saying what's on their minds," southern division president Bruce Berg told a University of Florida's Center for Retailing Education and Research symposium in Orlando. "You would be amazed. We are extremely blunt. We are safe within our positions in the company to say what we really feel."
Home Depot founders vowed that their employees would be judged by their achievements, not the ability to play office politics, he explained. Other unique corporate policies outlined by Berg include managers spending one week on the sales floor doing the work of an hourly employee, neady all managers and most hourly employees owning shares in the company, a week of raining witl tests for new sales associates as well as periodic update classes and the encouraging of a sense of corporate family including wellness and counseling programs.
