The events company which vows to Interrupt YOUR Routine
Interrupt the Routine Ltd is a creative events company run by Creator & (Mis)Chief Host of Team-Building Events, Rob Blackwood, who loves nothing more than creating the “wow factor” for clients.
“I love what I do, and I love watching how people interact, spark off each other, frustrate each other and laugh when we do our interactive team-building sessions,” says Rob. “Whether it be through our award-winning Quizzes or one of our Gamesmaster sessions, seeing how people discuss and make decisions is hugely positive to be a part of.
“Many clients come to us wanting hosts to bring a “wow factor” with them, but I have found that on many occasions they are not quite sure what this means (they’ve often been given a remit from above to go fact-finding with), so we try to help clarify the thought by suggesting the session they might want should be engaging, inclusive and entertaining for the company, club or institution which is bringing us in.”

“A good host will and should connect with the people in front of them, encourage and acknowledge in a light-hearted manner the various successes and failures to ensure they ‘keep the room’ (as opposed to losing it, which I hear many stories about from clients who come to us after a ‘meh’ experience) and look to create the magic that, for us, constitutes what a live event should be,” he says.
“There is so much content in people’s lives. So much busyness. So many targets. We invite people to be present so that they can really enjoy their time together. It’s nice to see leaders ask in advance for everyone to free up that time so they can fully join in, as we see people who are within metres of each other every day of their working week learn so much more about colleagues in our sessions. ‘I’ve seen a new/different side to you today’ is often said.
“We also know the reality is it’s not always possible to expect 100 per cent attention from 100 per cent of participants (deadlines, client calls and other variables) which is why there is value in having a top host who can hold the room, keep the energy good and have people engaged.
“With our activities, we talk to the client and make sure there’s variety so people can be accessing things that stimulate, challenge

I am proud to have recently celebrated 25 years in business. So, if you are looking for content production, it’s worth remembering why face-to-face meetings are often still essential. Currently, the real human touch is still unmatched and, unless you’re a robot manufacturer, may be exactly what your marketing campaign needs to set your content apart from the rest.

NoStairway.com and allow for enjoyment. Find out something new about a colleague! With a quiz, you want healthy discussion, not feeling you’ve just come through a round of Mastermind. With activities, it should be a series of games that allow for play. It’s something that adults often forget: play. Our job is to set up the playground and then ask people to jump in. To paraphrase Shakespeare: ‘The play’s the thing wherein you’ll catch enjoyment that you bring’.” www.interrupttheroutine.co.uk
