MILESTONES
Rosamund Stuetzel establishes the PNEU (Parents’ National Education Union) School to give expatriate children a British education in Bangkok 1957
1961
The school grows to 110 students and moves to Soi Ngam Dupli.
1964
The school is formally registered, the British Ambassador consents to being the school's patron and a Board of Governors is established. The school gets its new name: Bangkok Patana School
1966/68
To manage its rapid expansion, the school moves to new purpose-built premises on Soi Navin.
Sports Day at school.
1990/92
The school moves from Soi Navin to its current location on Soi Lasalle. The enrolment is

The Arts Centre is opened, featuring two theatres and specialised facilities for music, visual arts and drama.

Graduation is cancelled for the rst time in the school's history due to COVID-19. The COVID-19 pandemic shuts the campus for part of Term 2 and all of Term 3 and students switch to CSL online Learning.

IamAt Bangkok Patana School, decision making at governance and leadership level is closely aligned to the school's guiding satements. The board and leadership uphold the guiding statements and the CIS Code of Ethics by placing those values at the centre of its planning. This is evident in all areas of operations and understood by all stakeholders as evident in the community survey. Plans are interlinked to ensure that development plans are supported by finance and resourcing.

pleased to present the 2024/25 Stewardship Book, a reflection of our shared commitment to the continued growth of Bangkok Patana School.
This academic year has brought a renewed sense of purpose and momentum to our school community. Under the guidance of our Head of School, Chris Sammons, we’ve embraced thoughtful changes that reflect both our values and our aspirations. Chris’ leadership has helped us build on what makes our school extraordinarily special, while opening up new opportunities for our students to thrive. It’s been a year of meaningful progress, and we’re excited about what lies ahead.
One of the most notable developments this year has been the completion of our ITF Certified Tennis Courts, a world-class facility that enhances our sports programme and provides our students with exceptional opportunities to train and compete. We also introduced new PE uniforms for students, reflecting our commitment to both functionality and school spirit. In addition, we launched the new Patana Card system that improves campus security and streamlines services for students, staff and parents with easy top-up options.
Our campus continues to grow, with the Hum Building project well underway. Alongside the physical developments, we’ve seen a significant increase in student enrolment—a testament to the trust our community places in Bangkok Patana School and the quality of education we provide.
Throughout the year, our community has remained at the heart of everything we do. From engaging parent workshops and PTG events to inspiring visits from educators and thought leaders, the vibrancy of our school life has been truly uplifting. Our Foundation Board continues to support and guide the school’s strategic direction, working closely with the Head of School and leadership team to ensure long-term sustainability and success.
As we look to the future, I’m proud to share that Bangkok Patana School has taken a significant step forward in its commitment to environmental stewardship by joining The Alliance of Sustainable Schools (TASS) and signing the Charter for Sustainable Schools. This important milestone reflects our dedication to embedding sustainable practices into every aspect of school life and positioning ourselves as a leader in the global movement toward a cleaner, greener planet.

GOVERNANCE
As a not-for-profit organisation we do not have shareholders, therefore a transparent governance structure is even more important. It is the Bangkok Patana School Foundation Board members, the Committee and Sub-Committee members and the management whose role it is to ensure that the organisation is maintained and protected now and in the future.
The Board consists of a balance of people with the necessary skills and experience and with good relations in the local community to enable the proper and efficient supervision of the school’s operations and continued development in line with the school’s mission. To ensure that the Foundation may own land, at least half of the Board members are of Thai nationality.
At the School Executive Board, Committee and Sub-Committee level, the members have a connection to the existing community in the school and the appropriate skills to serve on their respective Sub-Committees. The school operates on a self perpetuating model for appointments of members to the Board, Committees and Sub-Committees. These appointments are overseen by the Nominations Committee and ratified by the Foundation Board.
The Board, Committee and Sub-Committee members are volunteers and do not receive any compensation.

Advancement
The Building Patana Campaign
Since its inception, the Building Patana Campaign has raised THB 183,643,746.50 which has directly supported the acceleration and enhancement of learning environments throughout the Primary and Secondary Schools. Contributions to the Building Patana Campaign are recognised through naming opportunities and plaques around the school and are eligible for a double tax deduction.
In 2024/25, the Building Patana Campaign received contribution totalling THB13,219,555.50.

FOUNDATION BOARD MEMBERS
Dr Tarisa Watanagase Chairperson
Tarisa Watanagase served as Governor of the Bank of Thailand from 2006 to 2010, after joining in 1975. Her career spanned key roles, including modernising Thailand's payment systems in the 1990s and leading financial reforms after the 1997 Asian crisis. She successfully navigated the economy through the 2008 global financial crisis. Tarisa also worked as an economist at the IMF, advised on IMF and World Bank programs, and supported a regional central bank. Currently, she serves as an advisor to various organisations and universities. She holds degrees from Keio University, Washington University and Harvard’s Advanced Management Program.
Laura Stamp
Vice Chairperson, Chair of the Nominations Committee
Laura Stamp has been involved with the school for over 30 years, on the Board of Governors and then on the Foundation Board, when it was formed in 1988. She has been involved in Bangkok Patana’s transformation since it was a school of 300 students. The ideal of a 'complete student’ is the driving force of Laura’s involvement on the Board. She has had four children attend Bangkok Patana and now has three grandchildren enrolled in the school.

Vice Chairperson
Khun Kajit’s career has spanned the military, commerce and industry. He had, for many years, been involved in the International Association of Lions Clubs, including holding the office of International President. He has several grandchildren who have attended Bangkok Patana and four are still at the school.
Peter Burke
Secretary and Chair of the Steering Committee
Peter, a British national, is the managing partner of Axis Legal, a Bangkok-based law firm specialising in M&A and corporate advisory. With over 25 years in Thailand, he holds Master’s degrees in Law from Georgetown University and the University of London. Peter has served on various committees, including the audit and general committees of the Royal Bangkok Sports Club and as a committee member at Camillian Children’s Home. Married with two children attending Bangkok Patana School, Peter remains active in professional and community engagements, combining his legal expertise with a commitment to supporting local initiatives.
Sukhumarn Polcharoen Sathorn
Treasurer and Chair of the Finance Sub-Committee
Khun Yok is an investment banker at a leading global bank, covering ASEAN markets with over 15 years of experience. She has advised multinational organisations across sectors, helping them navigate market volatility and regulatory challenges. Educated in the UK, where she lived for over a decade, and having worked internationally, she brings a global perspective to her role. A dedicated mother of two daughters in Primary at Bangkok Patana School, she is actively involved in the school community, serving as Treasurer and Chair of the Finance Committee, combining her professional expertise with her commitment to supporting education and community initiatives.
Predee Daochai
Chair of the Internal Audit Committee
Khun Predee serves as the Chairman of the Independent Director of PTT Global Chemical Public Company Limited, one of the world’s leading chemical and petrochemical companies. With extensive experience, he also holds the positions of Independent Director and Director at other organisations, including Advanced Info Service Public Company Limited, Bangkok Bank Public Company Limited, Bangkok Dusit Medical Services Public Company Limited, GULF Energy Development Public Company Limited, and Siam Motors Company Limited. Khun Predee is the father of two children, both of whom are alumni of Bangkok Patana School.
ML Pariyada Diskul
Member of the Nominations Committee
Khun Parry has been involved with Bangkok Patana School for over 30 years, serving as a parent, Thai Representative, School Manager and Executive Director before retiring in 2005. A Foundation Board member since its inception in 1988, she remains actively engaged with the school. Beyond Patana, she is dedicated to charitable foundations supporting children’s education and the underprivileged. She also served as Secretary to the Minister of Education, contributing significantly to Thailand’s education reform. Khun Parry’s two sons are proud Bangkok Patana alumni, reflecting her deep and enduring connection to the school community.
Threekwan Bunnag
Member of the Internal Audit Committee
Khun Threekwan has retired after more than 20 years in investment banking. At present, he is an Independent Director and Audit Committee member in several listed companies. Khun Threekwan brings more than 10 years’ experience in internal audit to the Internal Audit Committee. His daughter is an alumnus of Bangkok Patana School.
Karma Rana
Member of the Internal Audit Committee
Karma Rana has more than 25 years’ experience working in the higher education sector, in various positions and is currently the Institute Secretary and Secretary to the Board of Trustees at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT). He has a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the National Institute of Technology (NIT) in India and an MBA specialising in Management of Technology from AIT. He has two children who have already graduated from Bangkok Patana School.
Dr Mana Lohatepanont
Member of Internal Audit Committee
Dr Mana is Managing Director and Senior Client Partner at Korn Ferry, overseeing Thailand and Vietnam, providing organisational and people solutions. With over 30 years of consulting and HR experience, he has served as country head of a major HR consulting firm, head of HR at a telecom conglomerate, and head of ASEAN at Hay Group. He holds degrees in Economics and Electrical Engineering from Swarthmore College and a Ph.D. in Systems from the University of Pennsylvania. A member of the Thailand Management Association and Thailand Institute of Directors, Dr Mana is proud that his son is a Bangkok Patana graduate.
Tiziana Sucharitkul
Foundation Board Member
Tiziana Sucharitkul is co-managing partner of Tilleke & Gibbins and director of its dispute resolution and litigation group, with over 25 years of experience. Recognised as one of Thailand’s top dispute resolution lawyers, she was named Asia-Pacific Disputes Star of the Year 2015 by Asialaw Profiles. Tiziana served on the board of Lex Mundi and chaired its executive committee from 2018 to 2019. Licensed to practice law in California, she holds a JD from the University of California, Hastings, an MA from the University of Virginia and a BA from Mount Holyoke College. She is also an advocate for women in leadership.
Stephen Golsby
Member of Nomination Committee
Steve Golsby, a UK citizen and permanent resident of Thailand, built an international career in Marketing and General Management with Unilever and Mead Johnson. He first worked in Thailand in 1992 with Unilever and later joined Mead Johnson, leading its Asia business before becoming Global CEO (2004–2013), where he oversaw its NYSE listing in 2009. Steve has served as a Non-Executive Director for Mead Johnson, Beam Inc., RMA Group, and Tesco PLC, chairing its Remuneration Committee. He advises Bain & Company and Thai Union Group. Steve has three sons, all proud alumni of Bangkok Patana School.
John S Anderson Foundation Board Member
John Anderson graduated with an MSc with Distinction in Structural Engineering from Imperial College London. He earned an MBA from Deakin University and a Bachelor's in Civil Engineering (Hons) from the University of Adelaide. He has 30 years' experience working as a professional engineer on projects throughout South East Asia and Australia. John is a director with Meinhardt in Thailand and Managing Director of Meinhardt Myanmar. His children are alumni of Bangkok Patana School.
Dr Joel Farnworth
Chair of the Human Resources Sub-Committee
Professor Dr Joel Farnworth, DBA, MAML, Chartered Fellow CIPD, is the Dean of Business and Management Studies at European International University in Paris and Managing Partner at Kasemsri Farnworth & Associates. With over 22 years of HR experience at HSBC, including roles as Global Head of Talent and Head of HR for Thailand, India and MENA, he has worked in 45 countries with 56 nationalities. A sought-after consultant in Asia, he specialises in leadership, strategy and HR management. He holds advanced degrees from Michigan Business School and Roffey Park. Both of his children are now in Secondary at Bangkok Patana School.
Michael Tang

Michael Tang is a Thai / US citizen and has been back in Thailand since 2004 after spending 14 years in the US obtaining his BS in Architectural Studies from University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee and MS in Construction Management from University of Washington. Upon being back in Thailand, he has a wide range of work experience ranging from real estate, hospitality, manufacturing and retail. He has been on the FMSC for over 14 years and has one son in Secondary School, while the other son graduated in '24.

LETTER FROM THE HEAD OF SCHOOL
Aswe mark our 67th year, I am filled with admiration for the vibrant, resilient and deeply connected community that is Bangkok Patana School. One of the most impressive artefacts that has marked the achievement of our school this year is the Varsity Dance team who won gold at AOTD. Their dance was choregraphed by Coach Aum under the leadership of Sarah Dullaghan, Head of Dance.
The dance itself is an explosion of Thai music blended with hip-hop, gold and black costumes and coordinated movement of different shapes that peel across the stage. It was the team's dedication, artistry and hours of practice which resulted in such an excellent performance that represents the school perfectly. None of this was possible without the Performing Arts resources which enable our programme to happen. These have been built over the years by teams in both the Academic and Business sections to deliver fun and opportunity for our children. As well as dancing success, Swimming, Football, Gymnastics and Tennis Academies are seeing the largest number of members across all of our recreational and competitive programmes.
These academies represent the best provision in any school worldwide. Our children can develop their interests and passions in sports and arts beyond the formal curriculum because of the ideas, dreams and incredibly detailed hard work of our Board. Their thoughtful and effective stewardship of our finances, our buildings and a can do attitude by all involved has led to an incredible educational experience beyond the exceptional exam results our children achieve.
Here’s to another year of excellence, joy and shared achievement. My heartfelt thanks to the business teams and the services they provide which are celebrated in this year’s Stewardship report.

STUDENT ENGAGEMENT
Events during this year include
Our alumni come back throughout the year to speak to students about universities and careers. In one session, a panel of 12 alumni representing a diverse range of global universities, engaged parents and Year 13 students through group discussions and one-on-one interactions. Parents were pleased to receive candid replies on the support overseas children want, and students were able to discuss topics they don't raise with their teachers or parents.
STAFF ENGAGEMENT
Sri Hollema (Grad'18) was the keynote speaker at the Staff Professional Development day on 1st May. She is the founder of Mat Zero, a humanitarian-driven company offering safe, sustainable heating through modular heated mats, energy hubs and solar panels. Sri spoke to our staff about the skills and knowledge bases needed for young people to be resilient and succeed in a competitive world.

LETTER FROM THE BUSINESS DIRECTOR

BangkokPatana School is one of the most admired and respected schools in South East Asia. Our purpose it to enable our students to fulfil their potential. This, along with our values of well-being, learning and global citizenship, provide a focused guide for our decision making as well as a positive motivator for our everyday work lives.
This year the initial project for the long-term plan was completed and the tennis courts are being very well utilized – with the number of tennis players showing a marked increase! The school has initiated the building of an extension to the Humanities Building. This will provide for increased flexibility and space for Secondary Students. Additionally, the IBCP programme was launched, and we look forward to the development of this academic stream.
The school continues to explore ways to improve our provisioning – not only keeping up-to-date but also developing sustainably - and incrementally upgrades facilities across campus on an ongoing basis. This past summer notably the building of a new Art classroom in the Secondary School and the enclosure of the Primary Canteen were completed.
I am grateful to the Board for their guidance and to the teams who work tirelessly for our students and community. As we develop our school, we are finding increased areas for co-operation between the academic and business teams and will be striving to further link the elements of the organisation under our values and purpose.

LAND AND FACILITIES
In the 2024/25 academic year, the parking building at the end of Soi Lasalle 39/1 was completed. Additionally, construction on the Hum Extension Building, located next to the existing Hum Building has started. This new facility is expected to be ready for use in the next academic year. Other improvements are:
Summer Works - 25 projects including:
• Enclosed Primary Canteen
• Transformer replacement in the Secondary School zone
• Air conditioning system replacement at Year 1/2 building
• Fire Pump and Generator replacement in the Secondary School zone
• Replacement of tiles at the Learner pool
• Replace rubber flooring at the Year 5/6 playground and Primary outdoor corridor
• Renovation of Tiny Tigers Classroom
• ARTS classroom renovation and relocation of ARTS staffroom
• Convert Mini Tennis Courts to be Pickleball Courts
• Replace waterproofing system at Year 1/2 Building
Major Maintenance - 26 projects including:
• Maintenance of the water tower tanks
• Installation of solar LED lighting at the Front Car Park
• Pavement resurfacing at the Drop-off area
• Pavement repair around Front Hard Court
For the Long Term Infrastructure Plan, we began the design process for the Secondary Humanities Building Extension and the new Admin Building.

FINANCIAL PRINCIPLES
Throughout the 65+ year history of Bangkok Patana School, the Board has been conscious that as a not for profit organisation it needs to be prudent with the management of our financial resources.
The organisation needs to have sufficient funds to meet its operational needs, including the payment of salary and benefits, and also to meet the capital requirements, including land purchases, building construction and renovation, maintenance and debt repayment.
As such, guidelines have been set that identify the purposes for which each type of income is allocated.

Bangkok Patana School has crafted a thoughtful and thorough SWOT analysis that identifies the factors which may have the greatest impact on school's sustainability. Mentoring and Capacity Building
Our School's Vision and Values encourage our students and wider community to foster supportive relationships with external community organisations. Beyond being ‘conscientious role models’, we also engage in being ‘active stewards of the environment and our communities.’
Below are some of the projects that supported capacity building in 2024/25:
SOME OF THE MANY STUDENT LED PROJECTS
• Year 1 through their Spellathon and Cloth Bag Sale, helped support Grapongdeang School with solar panels and classroom renovations.
• 12,000 clothing items donated through the United Wardrobe Project
• 70 solar panel kits installed in a Chiang Mai village (SEC)
• 160 food boxes donated via World Food Project
• PAWS helped paint a 100 dog beds and donated them to a rescue shelter
ORGANISATION LED PROJECTS
• Recognising that education can change lives, we collaborate with other educational institutions to share our best practices. In 2024/25 we hosted ONESQA for Assessor Training for International schools and AI Workshop for International School Thai Teachers by the Sirindhorn Thai Language Institute, Chulalongkorn University. We also hosted learning tours from Assumption Samutprakarn College, International Schools Circle of the North, Chulalongkorn University and many others.
Senior leaders in the school volunteer their time on boards:
• Kulvadee Siribhadra, Director of the Foundation Board Office serves on multiple boards for governmental and non-governmental organisations such as Bangna Youth Centre, Royal Thai Police (Metropolitan Police Division 5, Bangna Police Station), Bangna City Council, Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Medical Foundation, Pan Dao Foundation; Central Investigation Bureau Foundation and for under priviledged children across all regions of Thailand.
• The Head of School and Government Manager serve as ISAT Committee members.
• Some Business Heads of Department volunteer on boards and committees of foreign chambers of commerce.
Fundraising and Financial Support
The Primary School, Secondary School and the Foundation Board each support a host of projects for which funds are raised and financial support is provided.
STUDENT LED DONATIONS
Student led clubs and activities raised more than THB 3 million in cash donations for various non-profit organisations and projects, including:
• The Primary and Secondary School raised THB 112,311 and THB 200,00 respectively for Operation Smile on Smile Day
• The Primary School raised THB 317,775.25 for the Central Fund where the focus was SDG 4: Quality Education, We supported a new Learning Centre and canteen at the Childcare Centre in Nong Bua Lamphu, classroom renovations and solar panels at Grapongdeang School, the funding of one year’s staffing at Children of the Forest, and a new roof at Good Shepherd
• THB 400,000 donated to flood relief in Northern Thailand
• CanCure donated THB 100,000 to Queen Sirikit Hospital Breast Cancer Foundation
• Ourland raised THB 35,000 raised for wildlife conservation
• FLOW raised THB 17,000 for menstrual health advocacy
ORGANISATIONAL DONATIONS
The Bangkok Patana School Foundation board provides financial donations to support organisations throughout the country. One of the primary objectives of the Foundation is to contribute to the well-being of and to provide support for the community.
Bangkok Patana School and Bangkok Patana School Foundation makes annual donations of other assets to government authorities, schools and charitable organisations which support underprivileged children as well as the local community. These used assets include educational materials, textbooks, furniture and fittings, sports equipment, musical instruments which are in good condition, unclaimed student belongings from Lost and Found Property which school collect each term and so on. Donations went to Rama 6 Rehabilitation Camp, Grapoengdeng - Urban Neighbors of Hope, Solar Village in Chiang Mai, Wat Tham Tako Phutthasopa, among many others.
Throughout the years, we have engaged in various events and initiatives organised by a large number of entities, including government bodies, schools and organisations. Notable collaborators include the Ministry of Public Health, Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, Bangna District, Royal Thai Police entities such as the Central Investigation Bureau, Immigration Bureau, Border Patrol Police, Metropolitan Police Division 5 and Bangna Police Administration Audit Committees. Additionally, we have partnered with institutions such as Bangna Youth Club, The Department of Social Development and Welfare, Reserves Training Center (Ror Dor), Ministry of Education and numerous others.
PARENT TEACHER GROUP (PTG)
Building a Vibrant Future Through Collaboration
At the heart of our school community is a wonderful partnership between parents, staff and children. The ParentTeacher Group (PTG) is part of this community, but what truly makes a difference is how we work side-by-side with the school to create a positive and lively environment for our students.
Our PTG supports the school by helping organise a variety of events such as International Day, Fun Day, Big Night Out and many others. These activities are made possible through the dedication of parent volunteers, who work closely with teachers and staff to ensure everything runs smoothly. This teamwork helps foster a sense of community, celebration and inclusiveness that benefits everyone.
Seeing parents collaborate seamlessly with staff is inspiring. Their shared efforts help create a warm, supportive atmosphere where children feel valued and excited to learn. It’s this partnership—built on mutual respect and teamwork—that shapes a bright, positive future for our school.
Looking ahead, we envision a vibrant, collaborative community where parents and staff continue to work together, strengthening bonds and enriching the educational experience for our children. Together, we are building a place where every student can thrive and look forward to a promising future.
