If cold air seeped into your home or commercial property during the polar vortex, just imagine how much air is escaping in the summer when you’re running the AC. BEC launched its Energy Saver program to help members identify opportunities for energy improvements and finance the costs of those improvements with interest-free, on-bill financing with no money down. This voluntary program provides participating members with an energy audit to find crucial energy inefficiencies so that you can reduce energy use, save money, and improve the comfort of your home or commercial property. Participating members receive a certified energy audit from BEC, which includes a room-by-room examination of the property, a blower door test, a thermographic scan and a review of past utility bills. BEC reviews the energy audit results and recommends eligible energy improvements like weatherization and fixed-asset appliance upgrades such as window and door replacements; HVAC upgrades; pool, spa and water well pumps; water heaters; insulation; and more. Prior to installation, BEC verifies that all energy improvements will provide either energy-cost or energy-use savings. All of the energy improvements must reduce kilowatt-hour consumption or the member’s electric bill annually or over the life of the improvement. Members can also take advantage of the program to install a solar power system, battery backup, generator or electric vehicle charging infrastructure. There is no credit check, no minimum income required and any on-bill financing is tied to the meter, not the member.
