’ll be honest, there aren’t too many drive-in cinemas remaining. This doesn’t mean you won’t have to pick your date up in your car and have them witness the horror of a mess first-hand. Cleaning your car inside and out can be tedious, and if you’re anything but human I’m sure a few vehicle cleaning tips won’t hurt. CLEAN AND ORGANISE This step is straight forward, remove anything that shouldn’t be in your car, and move useful items like an umbrella or torch to the boot. Receipts, rubbish and food goes can go in the bin; and books and bags you want to keep should migrate into your dwelling, we don’t need to be moving something off the seat when your date gets to your car. INTERNAL CLEANSE As for this step, you might need to collect a few cleaning things. Gather what you can of car cleaner, microfibre towels, Q-tips, old toothbrushes, glass cleaner and a vacuum cleaner. Begin by cleaning all the glass inside the car, both windows, mirror and windscreen – spray the glass cleaner directly onto the microfibre cloth to avoid spillage. Now all the hard surfaces can be cleaned. Wipe the dash, console and doors using a cloth and cleaner (Be careful with leather as some cleaners might harm them). Dont go too crazy with a spray or deodoriser, but you do want the car to smell fresh - not too sterile but not like Mcdonalds either. SEATS AND FLOOR Remove floor mats and take off the seat covers if they need a machine wash. Vacuum up any larger crumbs and then attach an upholstery nozzle to your vacuum and get in between the seatbelts and crevasses. If there are any tricky stains, use a tooth brush to loosen and then go over with the vacuum. Finish up by vacuuming the floor and returning the cleaned floor mats and seat covers to the car. EXTERNAL WASH Make sure all, the windows are wound up for this part, because you don’t want a drive-around pool at the end of this. Use a hose to wet the outside of the car, this will help highlight the dirt and debris which has barnicled onto your vehicle. Now some elbow grease, using a sponge and car cleaner work on sections of your car at a time, remember to rinse the suds and loosened particles off every panel and window as you go starting with the roof. The most stubborn spots will be the grill bumper and bar absorber at the front, under the doors and on the wheel guards. Lastly, give those hubs a good clean, especially if you have a chrome finish - it will make a world of difference. Let it dry, and your car is now date night ready and perfect for Valentines Day.
