El presidente Alejandro Giammattei recibió a la presidenta de China (Taiwán), Tsai Ing-wen, en el Palacio Nacional de la Cultura. Sostuvieron un diálogo sobre la agenda bilateral, así como agradecer el apoyo que ha recibido el país centroamericano.
“Hemos sostenido un diálogo franco, abierto, como dos aliados estratégicos; sobre todo, como amigos”, comentó el mandatario Giammattei, quien resaltó que esta es “una visita histórica”.
Agregó que la República de China (Taiwán) ha sido un país muy solidario con Guatemala, ya que ha brindado su apoyo en temas como el medioambiente, reducción de desastres, salud, transporte, energía, apoyo a la pequeña y mediana empresa, entre otros.
Ambas naciones dieron a conocer que se firmó un acuerdo básico de cooperación, el cual permitirá agilizar los procesos para la formalización de las donaciones.
La presidenta Tsai Ing-wen explicó que con la cooperación se prevé estrechar las relaciones bilaterales entre las dos naciones amigas. “El reforzamiento de la unión y cooperación entre

Durante su estadía en el país, la gobernante visitó lugares emblemáticos como Tikal, Petén y Chimaltenango.

President Alejandro Giammattei received the President of China (Taiwan), Tsai Ing-wen, at the National Palace of Culture. They held a dialogue on the bilateral agenda and thanked the Central American country for the support received.
“We have held a sincere and open dialogue as two strategic allies, above all, as friends,” said President Giammattei, who stressed that this is “a historic visit.”
He added that the Republic of China (Taiwan) has been a very supportive country of Guatemala. It has provided support on issues such as the environment, disaster reduction, health, transportation, energy, and support for small and medium enterprises, among others.
An agreement
Both nations announced signing a basic cooperation agreement to speed up the processes for formalizing donations.
President Tsai Ing-wen explained that both expect this basic cooperation agreement to strengthen bilateral rela tions between the two friendly nations. “Strengthening the unity and cooperation between the two democratic partners will ensure increased resilience, enabling us to meet all kinds of challenges ahead together,” she said.
During her stay in the country, the President visited emblematic places such as Tikal, Petén, and Chimaltenango, Guatemala.
